Box Fish Reef Safe
Best kept in a larger tank with other peaceful inhabitants.

They can be interesting specimen to observe. Not aggressive in nature they will consume algae amphipods and copepods. One or two pvc pieces in the box provide some cover for the fish and the box allows you to feed the fish directly at feeding time.
They are not normally reef safe and when small will require gentle water circulation. Boxfish can release a toxin when stressed that can kill other fish. Then after 2 3 days or so we will explore this timing in a bit you let the new guy or gal out to swim freely among the established tank mates.
The black boxfish is not the best reef inhabitant because it can pick at some invertebrates. Unfortunately the majority of these fish are not safe for a reef aquarium. Boxfish reef safe.
Sand sifting gobies shrimp gobies and small gobies. Boxfish can secrete a poison when stressed or if they die which can in the worst case kill the contents of a whole aquarium. Most gobies are great little reef safe fish however some species may eat small ornamental crustaceans.
Feed a variety of meaty foods.
