Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish Tankmates

Dwarf lionfish varieties could probably be kept in 30 gallon 114 liters tanks or larger whereas the common lionfish should be kept in a 55 gallon 208 liters or preferably much larger tank given their potential adult size. Tankmates should be chosen with care as small fish and shrimp will be eaten yet the fuzzy dwarf lionfish is easily harassed by larger more belligerent species which may prevent it from getting its fair share of food. Dwarf fuzzy lionfish are some of the most easily kept in a tank for a few main reasons.
Small and manageable as a pet dendrochirus brachypterus has bags of personality for a lionfish although it can still pack a punch and tank mates should be chosen with caution. Fuzzy dwarf lionfish are becoming increasingly more popular. They grow to about 7 inches in total length.

In larger well filtered aquaria this is a species that may be kept in good sized groups 5 if introduced simultaneously.
The pelvic pectoral and dorsal fins of this animal can cause extreme pain. Lionfish will eat smaller fishes ornamental shrimps and crabs. Avoid putting them in a community tank with fish small enough to fit in their mouths.
