Pelmatochromis pulcher is a bright dwarf cichlid which is not very demanding as for its tank conditions.

Kribensis. A dwarf cichlid kribensis is a colorful fish that s easy to care for. But these freshwater fish originally came from africa. From latin pelva means abdomen chromis is a color and pulcher means beautiful so all these words describe the fish completely.

Most of the kribensis cichlids in the fish trade are captive bred. Kribensis cichlid pelvicachromis pulcher also known as krib is the most famous type of cichlids. They have a unique appearance filled with a variety of eye popping colors.

These are the kribensis fish that have become an aquarium standard for the community keeper. Kribensis cichlids are devoted parents that form monogamous pairs and raise their offspring together. Technically the original kribensis was a single species pelvicachromis taeniatus which was originally misdescribed as pelmatochromis kribensis which also managed to gobble up what is now pelvicachromis pulcher in the confusion and later revised.

Kribensis fish originate in the african waters of southern nigeria and the coastal areas of cameroon. The male fertilizes them and both parents guard the eggs taking shifts to allow each other to feed. However they may nip fins on slow moving fish such as angels.

Kribensis will live singly and even in a community tank better than most larger cichlid species. With the right level of care kribensis fish have the potential to be one of the most breathtaking cichlid species around. Good kribensis tank mates include any fish of a similar size especially if they live on different water layers in a fish tank.
