Longhorn Cow Fish
They are a resident of the indo pacific region and can grow up to 50 cm 20 in long.
Longhorn cow fish. Two large spine like horns face forward above the eye and they have a tubular shaped mouth that protrudes forward. In this horned fish we find a wide range of colors distributed in the 25 existing species. The population status of the longhorn cowfish is unknown.
The longhorn cowfish have a very unusual box shaped body with a proportionally large caudal fin that is usually folded. The cowfish is becoming increasingly popular as a pet. Members of this family come in a variety of different colors and are notable due to the hexagonal patterns known as honeycombs on.
The longhorn cowfish is found in the red sea and tropical indo pacific. The longhorn cowfish lactoria cornuta also called the horned boxfish is a species of boxfish from the family ostraciidae recognizable by its long horns that protrude from the front of its head rather like those of a cow or bull. This fish feeds on sponges polychaete worms mollusks small crustaceans and small fishes.
The longhorn cowfish is a horned marine species that has a square figure similar to a cow bull or toad. On the lower rear section of the body two further spines face backwards as can be seen in the image below. The longhorn cowfish can grow to a length of 20 inches.
