Since neon tetras are sensitive to these changes they can die prematurely. However they can grow to a maximum length of 2 5 inches. You should avoid small tanks and bowls at any cost.

The green neon tetra paracheirodon simulans looks very similar to the regular neon tetra but only reaches about an inch 2 cm in size. They will do better when kept in a small school of 7 or more and in slightly acidic and soft water conditions. The temperature one should aim to maintain is 70f 81f while the ph should be under 7 0 but over 6 0.

Green neon tetras are not seen in the trade as often as the regular neons or cardinal tetra. Moreover there is a significant difference in size between the female and male neon tetras. However i recommend getting at least 6 for a nice shoal and keeping them in a 10 gallon tank or larger for full appreciation. Neon tetras will mostly reach 1 1 5 inches in aquariums. Keeping neon tetras in small tanks can result in chemical imbalance and unstable water parameters.
