Tropical Anglefish
Angelfish are native to a large area of tropical south america including much of the amazon river system.
Tropical anglefish. Pterophyllum altum more simply known as the altum angelfish is not commonly seen in the aquarium trade. It is larger deeper and flatter than the common species p. In the wild they prefer dimly lit areas under overhanging vegetation or among trees that have fallen into the river.
There are also many species of marine angelfish in an array of colors that rival the rainbow and each has its own care requirements. This is where things get a little tricky. The freshwater angelfish is a very popular tropical fish because of its unique shape and because of their interesting personalities.
Scalare and all of the cross bred mutations. Pterophyllum is a small genus of freshwater fish from the family cichlidae known to most aquarists as angelfish. An adult angelfish looks spectacular in a community tank peacefully gliding among other fish.
There are also tropical angelfish. Freshwater angelfish are very popular in the aquarium world and it is easy to see why. Altum angelfish are more sensitive to changes in water conditions and they require larger deeper tanks.
